King of the travellers / Bambi / Pecha Kucha

so since i last put some news up here lots has been happening but here are the 3 stand outs for me as of late. i went to dundalk to photograph the ex bare-knuckle king of the travelers, a lovely fella by the name of dan rooney for an article still very much in the works but with the potential to be a cracker. i was brought along by my old mongrel pal and mayo-man of the year, eoin butler. more details of that day available here: http://www.eoinbutler.com/home/i-went-out-walking/

i also decided i am doing an exhibition in early november consisting of over 14 years of my photography about skateboarding in ireland and whilst up in my folks attic digging out old negs i found this bambi 7 inch. bambi were an amazing dublin punk band who would play in the old pipeline 2 skatepark during parties there. i was only a young gun at the time but i can still remember skating around the park to only the light from a strobe light as they played a sex pistols cover in the hole in the wall.

also ive been asked to present a pecha kucha thing in the sugar club soon also. its this thing where you have 20 seconds to talk about 20 slides so basically its just over 6 and a half minutes of sheer panic and randomness... come along if you are free. they are always really insightful and inspiring.

The Handy Man

this photo was taken around this time last year during a hot, amazing week in new york. it was shot in coney island minutes before eating one of the worst hot dogs of my life. this family were shooting the air rifle game when i asked them if i could take their photograph. the dad, miguel handed me his card afterwards and i promised him i would post a print which i still have yet to do but i ordered the print for them today so it should end up with them soon enough hopefully...
