FLK Book Launch!!!

I was asked to submit work for what sounds to be a lovely book:
Im delighted to be involved in this and my homie Brian Coldrick (www.briancoldrick.com) is in there too which makes it even better. We sat next to each other for years in school.... Its all very emotional.

Friday, the 29th of September, sees the launch of Irelands first ever Design +
Illustration Book featuring the work of both up and coming and established
designers. The project has been organised by FLK Studios and will include work
from 20 of Ireland's most exciting Irish graphic designers + illustrators +
photograhers, as well as a host of International submissions. The project, a
design book named "Back2Old School" is being produced in aid of the Play
Department in Temple Street Children's Hospital. All designers and the team
working on the project are doing so free of charge and so all profits from the
sale of the book will be given directly to the charity. The money will be used
to buy much needed art supplies for the unit which helps young children come to
terms with their illness and allows the play assistants to prepare them for what
will happen to them during their operations.

We would love to see you at the launch of this exciting project next Friday, the
29th of September. It is taking place at 6.30pm in 3-4 Smock Alley, Temple Bar,
Dublin 2. Please see the e-invite attached. The Back2Old School book will be
available for sale on the night for the tiny sum of รข‚¬20 so make sure you get
down to Temple Bar early on Friday, enjoy a complimentary beer courtesy of
Krombacher and pick up a piece of Irish Design history.

London Exhibition opens tonight....

28 July - 12 August

Units Moved is a group exhibition curated by Rich Holland, Iain Borden and Wig Worland. Artists include:
Kathy Barber
Nic Clear
Peter J Evans
Richard Gilligan
Sam Griffin
Alex Hartley
Richard Holland (The Side Effects of Urethane)
Toby Paterson
Sem Rubio
Toby Shuall (The Side Effects of Urethane)
Wig Worland

Units Moved explores re-appropriations of urban space in the work of eleven different artists. Some pieces relate to specific places, such as Toby Paterson’s interpretations of modernist tower blocks and Sam Griffin’s reconstruction of Nazi plans for Jersey, while others explore how we design, draw, write and remember, including new video work by Alex Hartley, and a site-specific installation by Kathy Barber.

The art collective, The Side Effects of Urethane, will be exhibiting two ‘Moving Unit’ sculptures for skateboarders, one new and one used. There will also be new skatable sculptures being installed at the The South Bank Centre, in the Undercroft area. These are being made from solid stone and will be usable / viewable by all as part of this show.

T-money has been hanging out with gnarly hairy hells angels in south central L.K (lusk). and i highly recommend the mandarin flavor kerry spring sparkling water.... its good stuff

"SQUARE-ONE": EXHIBITION 3rd AUGUST!

hi.....

on thursday the 3rd of august 2006 (put that in yer diary!!!) a group photography exhibition will be opening in the monstertruck studios on francis street, dublin 8. the show is called "SQUARE-ONE" (not a david kitt album title rip-off; the first thing louise siad to me when i told her!) but because it is a series of work by people with a love/hate relationship with skateboarding.

the artists invloved, all from every concievable background imaginable find inspiration in the commonplace everyday surprises and ups and downs that life throws at us but they all also seem to find endless artistic inspiration from their experiences as skateboarders. for me personally, no matter how much i try to pursue photographic work away from skateboarding, some magnetic force always seems to direct my eye back to my initial interest in shooting skating, both on and off the board. back to square one i suppose.... (so there you have it, in a clever roundabout way, thats what the show is essentially about)

so far the line up consists of 21 artists from all four corners of the globe and the work ive recieved already is looking amazing so im hyped! this show is gonna be the first of its kind in ireland and has quite a few big european/u.s names involved so keep in touch as proper press release/invites/news on the free drink front will be posted up here over the next week or so.

have a nice tuesday....
